  • Small Square Die

Polka Dot Bunny

IMG_2291

This colorful card screams Spring! The best part of Spring is all of the beautiful colors and flowers.

I started my card with a 5 1/2 x 7 1/2″ turquoise base. My green layer measures 5 3/8 x 7 3/8″. My polka dot paper layer measures 5 1/4 x 7 1/4″ and is wrapped with a pink ribbon. I die cut a large oval in a darker turquoise card stock and embossed it with the Darice folder called Polka Dot. I die cut a smaller oval in white card stock using the Decorative Ovals by Spellbinders.

I stamped the bunny, sentiment and butterfly from the Happy Spring stamp set by Rubber Cafe and colored them with Spectrum Noir markers. I used GB8,GB10,PP1,DG3,DG4,OR1,LV1,PL2.

For my flowers, I stamped the Large Classic Petunia smaller flowers with black Staz On ink. I inked the edges of my Petunia petals Victorian Velvet and the centers with Dusty Concord and Barn Door by Ranger. I shaped the base of the petals with my bone folder and the tips of the petals with my Flowers Shaping Tool kit by Heartfelt Creations. I centered the flowers with white prills.

To assemble the card, I used craft foam to layer the focal image. I glued the flowers and leaves to the left of the oval. I accented the flowers with a white Stickles and the oval with pink pearls.

This card, or any of your creations, will surely brighten someone’s day. Share your sunshine and creativity with those who need a little “pick me up”.

Special Day

Wedding season is almost here. As a surprise for a coworker, I made some wedding cards for her to chose from. Her son is getting married next weekend and she was looking for something special and personal. I can’t think of anything more special or personal than a handmade card!

I decided to make a few cards and let her chose. The blue card starts with a 6 x 6″ navy blue card base. I used 2 Elizabeth Craft Elegant Roses cut in light blue card stock and tucked the ends behind a layer of white hammered card stock.

IMG_2313

I cut out 2 Labels 49 from Spellbinders. 1 in silver mirror board and 1 in white hammered card stock. I used craft foam behind the label before attaching it to my card. I stamped my  Sunrise Lily by Heartfelt Creations in brown StazOn and inked it with Spun Sugar, Scattered Straw, Khaki Green and Canary. I accented the lace with small white pearls and the center pice with small dark brown pearls. The stamen is done from a pale green card stock and accented with yellow prills.

IMG_2315

The other card starts with a pale pink 5 1/2 x 7 1/2″ card base. I die cut the Elizabeth Craft Lace Pocket from white card stock and tucked the edges behind the pale green layer. I used a 1/4″ double sided tape along the edges of the pocket and then attached gold foil.

IMG_2310

For the sentiment, I die cut 2 labels from the Decorative Swallowtail Tag Collection by Spellbinders. One is in gold mirror board and the other is in white card stock. I used the Tattered Lace Word Dies for my ‘Special Day’. I accented the white label with small white pearls and used craft foam on the back before I attached it to my card.

For the flower, I stamped a Blazing Poppy by Heartfelt Creations in black StazOn and inked with Spun Sugar,Lilac, Forest and Khaki Green. I accented the edges of the flower with White Snowflake Stickles.

I haven’t done wedding cards in a while. It was a lot of fun trying different themes and colors. I hope you get the chance this week to make something special for a friend.

As always, share a piece of yourself with others. A card, a hug, or even a smile…….

Kaleidoscope Easter

IMG_2279

Spring is in the air and Easter is around the corner. This card is vibrant and delicate in appearance. The bright colors in combination with the parchment paper are a great pair.

Start with a white card base of 5 1/2 x 7 1/2. Layer a piece of mint card stock that measures 5 3/8 x 7 3/8. I used a 5 x 7 piece of kaleidoscope paper that is part of the Razzle Dazzle Paper Pack from Michaels. I embossed the paper with Swiss Dots by Cricut. I attached a piece of pink ribbon to the center and attached to the back. Layer the kaleidoscope paper onto the mint card stock.

For the center of the card, I used the Labels 49 die by Spellbinders. I cut the largest die in yellow card stock, the second largest die in white and a frame with the same 2 dies in mint card stock. Stamp Happy Easter with black Staz On the white label. The Happy Easter sentiment is from the Happy Spring stamp set by Rubber Cafe.

For the flowers, I stamped the Flowering Dogwood flowers by Heartfelt Creations onto parchment paper using Victorian Velvet Distress Ink by Ranger. I stamped two sets of leaves. One is on regular white card stock with Forest Moss Distress Ink and the other with Cracked Pistacio Distress Ink on parchment paper. The stamens are die cut out of parchment paper and moss card stock.

To shape the flowers, I used a bone folder to curl the petals and then used the Flower Shaping Tool by Heartfelt Creations to push down the center of the flower. I added two stamens to the center of each flower. I combined 1 moss card stock stamen with 1 parchment stamen.

To assemble the card, layer the white label onto the yellow label. Use pop dots to layer the frame on top of the yellow label. I used craft foam on the back of the label to give dimension to the center of the card.

To decorate the label, I attached 2 of the Dogwood Flowers to the left corner and 1 to the top right corner. I embellished with both types of the leaves, Arianna Lace pieces, a pink bow and pink pearls.

During this season, I hope you are generous with your talents.

Happy Spring

This pastel “Happy Spring” card will brighten anyone’s day.IMG_2162

The base of this card is a 6″ x 12″ white card stock. Score long side at 4″ and 8″. Fold score lines. Chose a design for the panels. I chose the mini scallops and the perforation designs from the Classic Border Basics by Heartfelt Creations. I cut the panels at roughly 1/3 from the bottom and 2/3 from the bottom.

IMG_2168

Cut the matching lilac panels using the left and right edges from the Classic Border Basics.  I ran the panels through my Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots folder by Cuttlebug. Attach the panels to the card.

IMG_2165IMG_2166IMG_2167

My inside back panel is a piece of white card stock embossed with the Darice Rainbow Frame and layered on the lilac card stock.

For my flowers, I stamped the Flowering Dogwood by Heartfelt Creations using Dusty Concord Distress Ink by Ranger. I accented the flowers using a lilac colored pencil , shaped them and centered them with light green seed beads.

IMG_2162 - Version 2

For my leaves I took apiece of white card stock and used Bundled Sage Distress Ink and Frayed Burlap Distress ink by Ranger. I stamped the Flowering Dogwood leaves in Forest Moss Distress Ink and then die cut them.

My sentiments are from the Happy Spring Collection by the Rubber Cafe. I stamped both on white card stock with Dusty Concord Distress Ink and used my Label 56 by Spellbinders.  I left the die cut around the “Happy Spring” sentiment and lightly applied the Victorian Velvet Distress Ink.

I finished the card with some accent pearls and Say It With Pearls by Want to Scrap.

As always, thank you for visiting. I hope you make this card and share it with someone who needs a little Spring in their life.

Purple Imperial Squares

Happy Wednesday to you all! I hope your week is going well.

With all of the great weather we have been having in California, I feel like Spring is in the air already. For this card, I wanted it to feel light and airy, like Spring. The Imperial Square die from Spellbinders definitely gives that light and airy feeling. I layered the Imperial Square die cut atop the Tattered Lace Handmade Paper embossed background. I love the Tattered Lace Handmade Paper Embossing Folder. It has so many different looks depending on how you use it. In this background, it almost looks like blades of embossed grass. I used the strip embossing folder from the Tattered Lace Floral Diamond Collection and wove it thru the Imperial Square. I layered my sentiment and finished the card with flowers, ribbon and pearls.

This card will be perfect for a wedding shower or a summer birthday. I hope you have the time this week to enjoy your craft.
