Wedding season is almost here. As a surprise for a coworker, I made some wedding cards for her to chose from. Her son is getting married next weekend and she was looking for something special and personal. I can’t think of anything more special or personal than a handmade card!
I decided to make a few cards and let her chose. The blue card starts with a 6 x 6″ navy blue card base. I used 2 Elizabeth Craft Elegant Roses cut in light blue card stock and tucked the ends behind a layer of white hammered card stock.
I cut out 2 Labels 49 from Spellbinders. 1 in silver mirror board and 1 in white hammered card stock. I used craft foam behind the label before attaching it to my card. I stamped my Sunrise Lily by Heartfelt Creations in brown StazOn and inked it with Spun Sugar, Scattered Straw, Khaki Green and Canary. I accented the lace with small white pearls and the center pice with small dark brown pearls. The stamen is done from a pale green card stock and accented with yellow prills.
The other card starts with a pale pink 5 1/2 x 7 1/2″ card base. I die cut the Elizabeth Craft Lace Pocket from white card stock and tucked the edges behind the pale green layer. I used a 1/4″ double sided tape along the edges of the pocket and then attached gold foil.
For the sentiment, I die cut 2 labels from the Decorative Swallowtail Tag Collection by Spellbinders. One is in gold mirror board and the other is in white card stock. I used the Tattered Lace Word Dies for my ‘Special Day’. I accented the white label with small white pearls and used craft foam on the back before I attached it to my card.
For the flower, I stamped a Blazing Poppy by Heartfelt Creations in black StazOn and inked with Spun Sugar,Lilac, Forest and Khaki Green. I accented the edges of the flower with White Snowflake Stickles.
I haven’t done wedding cards in a while. It was a lot of fun trying different themes and colors. I hope you get the chance this week to make something special for a friend.
As always, share a piece of yourself with others. A card, a hug, or even a smile…….
I met a wonderful lady today in line at the Heartfelt Creations Booth in Anaheim. She is a 4 time breast cancer survivor and she inspired me to create this card. I am always surprised how certain people I encounter spark a creative thought for me.
I started with a 5 1/2 x 7 1/2″ white card base. The pink layer is 5 3/8 x 7 3/8″. The next white layer measures 5 1/4 x 7 1/4″. I used the Italiana Grape Clusters die to cut each edge and then glued to the pink layer. The decorative border down the center is from The Fleur Border Basics collection and embellished with pearls.
The flowers are from the Sunrise Lily Collection stamped in brown Staz On. I inked the lilies with Canary and Razberry chalk inks. The leaves are inked with Limeade chalk ink. The stamens are black card stock with pale pink prills glued to the tips.
To finish the card, I glued the “Special Day” sentiment to the card and accented the vines with Frosted Lace Stickles.
I want to thank my new friend for inspiring me and making my day extra special. The best part of Craft Shows is meeting other people and hearing their stories.
As always, listen to others and share a smile with them!
This card was designed to show the versatility of the border dies by Heartfelt Creations.
For my card shape, I wanted something big enough to show the beautiful patterns of the border dies. I pulled out my Cricut and my Holiday Cakes cartridge. I cut a 5″ oval as a template.
For my card base, I started with a 6 x 6″ lilac card stock. I laid my oval template on the card base and traced it. There was about 2″ hanging over the top. I cut out the oval and then repeated again with a piece of white card stock. I cut this oval about 1/4″ inside my trace line to make it a little smaller than my card base. I embossed the white oval with the Darice embossing folder called Decorative Tiles.
For my “egg decorations”, I die cut all the different pieces of The Classic Border Collection and The Delicate Border Collection by Heartfelt Creations. I glued them to my egg and trimmed the edges. I then used a piece of twine to decorate the top of the card.
For my flowers, I stamped and die cut some Mini Florets by Heartfelt Creations. Each flower has 3 layers. My bunny is a Spellbinders die cut from a light gray card stock, layered onto a darker gray card stock and embellished with twine around his neck. My leaves are a Mini Floret flower stamped in Moss Green and inked with Squeezed Lemonade, Sage and Amber. The tag is the smallest die in the Oval Majesty Die set by Spellbinders.
To assemble the card, I layered the bunny with craft foam and glued the flowers down. I accented with some glitter and wrote “Easter” on my tag with a silver gel pen. I added small clear gems to each border die and a black gem for the bunny’s eye.
I hope you use your border dies to make some bunny smile. If you can make 1 person smile every day, it’s a great day!
